Good health and well-being

No smoking is allowed at any Mazepay locations.

Our story

Many employees in corporate organisations struggle to navigate the complex structures and policies that have been built up over years of business growth. While these organisations excel at their core business, employees often spend excessive amounts of time trying to understand and follow these policies.

Mazepay was created to simplify the processes and the making of payments and remove the complexity for employees. The founders of Mazepay had firsthand experience working in large organisations where shortcuts were necessary to manage spend effectively. 

"Purchasing and paying for smaller purchases have been a huge challenge in all the organisations I have worked in. Only a few followed the purchasing policies, not because they did not want to but simply because it was way too difficult to do so." says Mazepay co-founder and COO, Dan Kortegaard Nielsen. Mazepay was born out of an ambition to address the challenges faced by corporate organisations, particularly in managing the long-tail area where established processes require improvement.

The long-tail refers to the spend where a large corporate organisation has numerous suppliers who make deliveries not related to the products or services sold by the company. In most cases, 80% of the suppliers account for only 20% of the spend. However, the overhead associated with managing this spend makes it difficult for organisations to optimise and focus on structured selection processes that align with their goals of compliance, sustainability, and control. The large number of suppliers and lack of control of the associated spend further complicate matters, which removes the opportunity to spend more time with strategic suppliers.

Mazepay aims to enable corporate organisations to regain control by providing an intuitive platform that empowers employees to make purchase requests as easily as filling out a post-it note. To develop our solution, we interviewed CFOs, CPOs, and other finance and procurement professionals from 23 European and global companies with more than 500,000 employees worldwide. 

"The two key learnings from this were that in order to truly solve the problem, we need to provide user-friendly business processes tightly integrated with the associated payments. It was clear that all the friction and risk with the current way of working were caused by procurement processes and payment processes being completely separated." says Mazepay co-founder and CEO, Søren Aabel Hammer. 

This allowed us to understand the core challenges of long-tail spend and begin simplifying corporate processes through our partner network. 

Looking ahead, Mazepay is expanding its initial focus on solving this for European companies to solving this challenge on a global scale together with both existing and new partners.

Mazepay operates through our trusted partners who are connected to our Software-as-a-Service platform. These partners have established relationships with corporate organisations and invite Mazepay to help solve the long-tail challenge that their customers struggle with.
